lack of color
periwinkle exists
but only in my imagination.
green sifts through my dreams
flirting with my senses
a tease.
pink stays close by
just under my nose
where i can’t see it.
yellow and gold
have been forgotten.
violet winds its way
into my heart.
promises,
promises.

How gorgeous. Somehow, the colours are more vivid when you describe them than they would be in a photo. And I have to say I love the pictures that you take.

gorgeous processing — so with you on the lack of color thing — and so tired of it. Enough of February already! Give me some spring!!!!

Excellent way to end with the repetition of promises, for which imagination can color a seemingly colorless world. Nice One Shot!

Beautiful little thing that I would never have thought about! I love this and for some reason —still a mystery to me—I thoroughly enjoy the word ‘periwinkle’…the word just commands a smile.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem that has no hint of mediocrity, thank you very much! 🙂

Pink would stay by that close. I can just see it doing that, the daring color pink.

Very beautiful. Verdant. Made me want to lay down in a field of wild flowers, on my stomach, head to the side, staring at the colors.

almost. almost. there was a small burst of yellow forsythia monday, at the end of the driveway, and i told myself i should take a picture, and then the cold arrived. no picture, no more yellow. but there will be more – it was indeed a promise of things to come.

all we can do is wait….color will return. i know it will. right. it will return. it damn well better or i’m out of here.

Give me back color! Give me back life! Enough of the winter white…it’s overstayed its welcome. Poignant piece in the longing for spring. Colorful elation, a very bright descriptive piece – strong ending note as well. Promises, promises…they all come on endlessly, it seems, as repetitive and colorless as the winter…

your artistry just makes me smile… every. single. time.

Yes..I think we’re all in need of a little color. But your words do ‘color-my-world’!!!

Great line breaks, word choices, etc. Perfect, wastes no words.
