drops of jupiter

in a sky mixed from paint and loose smoky cloud
sung by the song of ophelia’s left wrist
floating home on a river of chasm

we are built with such fragile temerity
says a poster on the wall of indifference

held in place with tacked-up tone diamonds
ripple-torn by the weight of overwhelm

it’s all too much and never enough

because cut glass and cold minded carbon
are futility’s intrinsic fossil

holding on to lost light with the fine-crazed frailty
of their own impetuous gleam

the stars will always hang high
in one corner of sky
but first you must swallow the darkness

Every single line of this poem demands careful rereading – it is rich, lyrical, playing with language and thoughts. I love it! One of my favourites yet.

Read this through a few times … such magic in the words and image.

First, I love that song. Really solid piece, the layering is really nice – and I like the punch line as well there in the end. Yes, you do.

And with the weight of the words before it, it is a relief to se the way out.

first – really love that pic… such beauty in the fragile… a poster on the wall of indifference… this is great as well..you paint images with such tender brushstrokes

This is so wild. I totally had that song in my head a couple of days ago. I even posted it on my blog! Awesome energy connection. 🙂

I have always found your photography to be pure art. Your eye is phenomenal. I just adore your closeups. So inspiring.

And your words … well, there’s no contest. You’re the best.

    I love these lines, especially:

“in a sky mixed from paint and loose smoky cloud
sung by the song of ophelia’s left wrist”

“we are built with such fragile temerity”

    “futility’s intrinsic fossil”

“but first you must swallow the darkness”

That closing image is fascinating. I wonder, though, if the darkness can be regurgitated afterward.
