drips and drabs

friday the 13th has always been a lucky day for me, so i am ready
to embrace this one. partly because it’s my lucky day, partly just because it’s friday.

friday has always been my favorite day. isn’t it funny how we can have a favorite day of the week, when really, they are all the same?

24 hours, 60 minutes an hour, 60 seconds a minute, you get the idea.

but i love friday because i almost never work on a friday night. it’s my time to relax, even if i have to work on saturday. and sunday. which is often the case.

::

something about this photo makes me think of these lines from a dylan song (visions of johanna):

she’s delicate and seems like the mirror

later followed by

the ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face

i’m not sure why, it may be because i am exhausted and somewhat delirious.

or maybe because it’s friday the 13th

i’ve never seen any of those movies, have you?

::

is it just me, or does life seem really crazy these days, crazier than normal?

i can’t keep up. i need a vacation. or a long weekend with a stack of books and no agenda.

yeah, right. like that’s going to happen.

but that reminds me, i finished the hemingway project. so if you have any ideas for great fiction to read, i am looking for suggestions.

i miss hemingway already. really, i do.

is that weird?

    I share your feeling about how frantic life seems these days. I hope you find the weekend as restorative as I found your words.

    13 is a lucky number for us, so i’m good… and i also love me a friday !!
    i think it stems from all those years of the kids being in school and the rat race of the week and yippee, finally it’s friday πŸ™‚

    thursday the 12th is now the date to be afraid of….since blogger has left all of us with blogspot, unable to post…..i hope they get their issues fixed soon….i have things to say πŸ™‚

    Yes…life has been too busy of late!!! And – for me too – Friday the 13th is always lucky!!!

    Frantic is the only way to describe it right now. I feel like I can’t catch my breath at work or at home. I rush through the work week and then the weekend speeds by as I do what I need to.

    Life does seems a little crazier these days. I’m going on vacation in a week and can’t wait to unplug, unwind and let go of crazy for a little while.

    I agree, Kelly, life seems really extra frantic and stressful these days. I keep trying to remind myself to B R E A T H E! Boy, does a long weekend with no agenda sound delicious! But, like you said, that’s really going to happen! On the plus side, it is Friday the 13th! My lucky day also (I won a doll from a kiddy radio show in 5th grade on a Friday the 13th!) I’ve never read Hemingway – do you think I should? I recently read a book that’s now on my top 10 ever favorites! It’s “Cutting for Stone,” by Abraham Verghese. I can’t believe how good it was (but, that’s just me. I don’t feel comfortable recommending restaurants or movies either in case something thinks I’m nuts!) Check it out on Amazon. Try to have a restful, or at least non-stressful weekend. And enjoy today!

    Love dylan and the picture. And yes, life does seem a bit crazier, moving along faster. I blame it all on the internet! πŸ™‚

    Hemmingway may be missed, he is worth it

  • Kate Says:

    Life seems crazier but I’m attributing it to getting older, at least in my case. I used to be able to handle things better, to juggle my life a little more effortlessly. So I’ve got to agree with you on this point.
    And Friday the 13th has always been a good day for me. It’s just a date and a day of the week.
